In this workshop, you'll learn how to work with clay slabs and 2D reference images to create a wall-mounted sculpture.

We will discuss incorporating high-fire wire in designs to support hanging works. You will need to bring a small reference image (no larger than 8x10) that you do not mind getting damaged (i.e., a copy of a drawing or photo rather than an original).

Melanie Elyse Brewster (b. Miami, Florida) is a Greek-American interdisciplinary artist and scholar based in New York City. She earned an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in 2024 and her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida in 2011. Brewster’s solo exhibitions include: Brazosport College Art Gallery (Lake Jackson, TX) and forthcoming shows at Wave Hill Public Garden & Cultural Center (Bronx, NY) and Field Projects (Manhattan, NY) in 2026.
