Students paint a clothed model from life within a simple staged scene, complete with a few props and a suggested setting, and learn to build a portrait that tells a story rather than just recording a likeness. (Intermediate painting workshop)

We'll cover the fundamentals of painting the portrait from observation while thinking about how pose, objects, light, and composition can imply mood and narrative. Everyone leaves with a portrait study and a sharper sense of how to make a painting say something.
