Woodblock Printing: Reduction Prints


This one day workshop will guide participants through the process of reduction printing.

Instructor: Jeremy C. Smith



Students will learn how to create complex multi-color prints from one block by removing more material between each layer. This workshop will cover compositional planning, print registration and multiple printing methods. After completing this workshop, students will be able to take these acquired skills and make reduction prints at home.

Jeremy Coleman Smith is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Jersey City who works primarily in printmaking and sculpture. Jeremy is currently an adjunct professor at New Jersey City University teaching in both Printmaking and Sculpture. He was one of the recipients of the 2011 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture by the International Sculpture Center and his work has been featured in Sculpture Magazine and the New York Times. He has exhibited his work in galleries throughout the United States and is included in several private collections, including the Hoggard/ Wagner Collection.
